New Catheter Lab and Operating Theatre – John Flynn Private Hospital

The brief was to construct a new operating theatre and a new catheter lab in previously vacated space. The reality was much more complex and included:

• Master planning for the replacement of the two existing (and soon to be non-complaint) catheter labs with three new labs – this project was the first of a three-stage project for the full replacement.
• Changing the orientation of the lab area and link circulation to the main DOSA circulation so that the existing separate lab entry could be shut down
• Providing additional support and holding areas to cope with the additional patient load
• Structuring the construction/patient/staff accesses so that the existing operating theatres and labs could remain fully operational while the new theatre and lab were constructed.
