Brisbane & Cleveland Youth Detention Centres

Youths housed at the Brisbane Youth detention Centre and Cleveland Youth Detention Centre were accessing prohibited roof areas and causing significant damage through vandalism. Notwithstanding the direct capital cost of repairs there was the potential for youths to injure themselves in a fall from the roof.

Phillips Smith Conwell was engaged to review and analyse alternative prevention options and recommend the optimal combination of anti-climb measures.

The approved option, a combination of anti-climb mesh on vertical faces and a 900mm diameter duct at the edge of the roof was successfully installed at both Centres.
